Shanghai, by all means is an international city.

it is the biggest and most rich city in China.

The Chinese themselves call Beijing the city of history and shanghai the city of business.

It was only a small fishermen town, but after it opened itself to the world it progressed  so fast that in 1987 it had 150 high rise buildings with 50 stories, now it has more than 1500.

It has a Television Tower, 400 meters height. On the upper floor it has a rotating restaurant where we had a buffet dinner with all the chinese delights you can imagine.

Up : This is the TV Tower ,               I tried to capture some photos of Shanghais by night , those photos were taken behind the glass of the restaurant while it was rotating.

Look at the picture above right you see the corniche on the river ?

The picture below is what you see when you stand on that corniche once by day and the other by night

To the right is the corniche itself looking at Shanghai bay where many years ago all the drug Traffic was taking place  .

Below is a typical house in a kind of flee market, the market  was full of shops that were selling all kind of exotic merchandise.

At The same time hidden in that market was a garden built by a Chinese Mandarin  called YU for his father, as Chinese like the ancient Egyptians worshiped the cult of the ancestors .

We entered that garden and it was so wonderful ...You would not believe that such a beautiful garden could exist in the middle of  all that crowded area with the flee market called the YUYUYAN all around it .

Here is the bridge leading to the garden , lets take it to cross that area covered with the water Pond .

Look to the right , now we are inside the garden ,

beautiful plants , beautiful stones , beautiful environment

Down  is another part

To the right is the house inside that garden

This is inside the house court and that old lady is  busy cleaning the floor

while it was raining .

To the right : This is how the streets in the flee market looks like. like

At one time after I spent all my Chinese money , I wanted to exchange more dollars to the Chinese currency called yuwan, so I asked around if this was possible , and if a bank was in the vicinity ?

So A lady from a nearby shop took me in an alley were we had to go up on a staircase and I found myself in a sort of a long narrow corridor with many shops on both sides .

At the end we stopped in front of one of the shops and as you can see he was specialized in dealing with old banknotes and coins of all sorts and from different countries , he kindly exchanged the money I wanted , then  he  posed very gently for me to be able  to shoot that picture of him.

I think this is one of the best photos I took .

Going out from that market and while I was  looking for a taxi, I found that people in China still use the bicycles as a mean of transportation after all, as you can see here is a small bicycle parking lot ...can you count the number of the bicycles parked ???

While we were on our way to visit the shanghai Museum , I looked up and saw that this sky scraper was hidden in the clouds , it was so high that the clouds enveloped the upper part of the building.

It was raining and it was very cold , but it was nice , it was a complete change for me, coming from Egypt where the Sun is shining all year round ( Thanks GOD ) .

This is the Shanghai Museum main door

Inside we discovered very fine Chinese and Asian antiquities and ancient paintings.
this is a pattern on a porcelin dish

And two Buddha statues siting in a state of perfect enlightenment

Similar to Trafalgar square in London,  you can feed the pigeons in Shanghais China.

Now it is time we go to Malaysia (under construction)
